Which Jamie moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 3 stood out the most?
While Outlander Season 1, Episode 3 was mostly about Claire learning more about the past and proving her skills, Jamie did get some important moments. What were his best moments?
We got a chance to see the kindness in Jamie’s soul during this episode. It was also a chance to show that he was interested in Claire, and not just her healing skills. He was interested in her.
Here are my five favorite Jamie moments from “The Way Out.”
Not getting the clues Laoghaire is interested
Jamie is a very stereotypical man while in the hall with Claire and Laoghaire. His mind is focused on Claire, and he completely overlooks the attempts to get him to talk to Laoghaire. He seems completely oblivious that Laoghaire is even interested in him and that Claire is trying to set them up.
I do find it amusing. It should also be a sign to Laoghaire to just give up on the guy. However, he doesn’t help matters later.
Taking Claire back to the surgery
Realizing how much Rhenish Claire has drank, Jamie knows that he needs to get her out of the hall. He makes up a reason to get her to the surgery.
While he is interested in her, this also gives us a look at the kindness in him. He wants to make sure she’s safe from others in the castle, knowing what the men can be like. At the same time, it gives him a chance to steal a few minutes alone with her without threatening her reputation.
He also tells Claire that he doesn’t mind showing his scars to her. She never makes it obvious she feels sorry for him.
Trying to make Claire jealous
There’s a moment in the episode where Jamie and Laoghaire are making out. However, Jamie sees that Claire is looking. There this hint that he’s trying to make Claire jealous.
Of course, this doesn’t help matters when it comes to Laoghaire’s interest in Jamie. Jamie won’t be thinking about that though, with his focus purely on making Claire jealous.
Telling Claire the stories of the past
Jamie takes Claire up to the kirk, where she’s able to figure out what’s caused Tammas’s illness. While there, Jamie tells stories of the past.
It’s so much fun getting to know more about him. He opens up so much around Claire, and it’s more than just letting her see the scars on his back. We also get this chance to see him reminisce, going back to a time when he could just be a boy.
Sharing the story in the music
Jamie realizes that Claire can’t understand the music. He translates for her. The song at the very end of Outlander Season 1, Episode 3 is the most important. It’s the story all about the stones.
However, it’s more than just translating to be kind. He’s getting closer to Claire. He wants to be near her, and we can see this happiness in his face when he is next to her and helping her understand.
