Should you get the Outlander Season 5 DVD, Blu-ray, or Collector’s Edition?

The Outlander Season 5 DVD and Blu-ray release is happening very soon. While many pre-ordered back in July, others are still on the fence. With so many options to get, which one is right for you?

There are three options when it comes to the DVD boxsets. You can get the Outlander Season 5 DVD release, get it on Blu-ray, or you can splurge on the Collector’s Edition. Which one is right for you?

There’s no wrong or right answer here. It’s going to depend on the following factors.

You prefer digital

Some people won’t even want the boxset. You may not have a DVD or Blu-ray player at home, or you may prefer to stream everything online. In this case, you want to get the digital release, which is out on Sept. 14.

Your budget to purchase

The first factor is the budget. If you only have a small budget, the DVD boxset is going to be the cheapest. If you do have the budget available for the Collector’s Edition, it’s certainly worth it.

Don’t feel ashamed if you can’t get the Collector’s Edition right away. The versions for previous seasons are still available to purchase, so this one will be in the future too!

If you just want the episodes and some bonus features

When you want the episodes and some of the bonus features, you’ll want to turn to the Outlander Season 5 DVD and Blu-ray releases. According to Vital Thrills, both will include the gag reel, deleted scenes, featurettes, and the Outlander Untold stories.

The Collector’s Edition adds more to it, but that’s not for everyone. You may just want to keep watching the show and may not be ready to delve into the books yet. That’s okay!

If you want the book excerpt and soundtrack

For those who have delved into the books and are eagerly waiting for the release of “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,” you’ll want to turn to the Collector’s Edition. As well as everything already mentioned, this will have a nine-page excerpt, the soundtrack, and much more. There’s also a collectible book that goes into the behind-the-scenes details.

In the end, it’s going to depend on what you want. If you just love to watch and rewatch, the Outlander Season 5 DVD is right for you. If you want more, you’ll want to look at the Collector’s Edition.

Outlander Season 5 is on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 15.
