Droughtlander suggestions: Now is the time to listen to Outcasts
Outcasts is the podcast of the week when it comes to Droughtlander suggestions
Every Friday, we’re going to bring a podcast suggestion of the week to get through Droughtlander. Outcasts is the one to check out this week.
One thing that Outlander has been wonderful for is bringing actors together. Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish have joined forces for Clanlands, and now David Berry and Tim Downie have joined together for the podcast Outcasts.
It’s a relatively new podcast. The first promotion for it was at the beginning of April, making it clear we had something to look forward to throughout Droughtlander. The first episode teaser dropped on June 18 and it’s all gone from there.
Plenty of Outlander guests
The first episode was a chance for introductions. How did the podcast start? What’s the aim for it? All the stuff that gets us into this new world.
From there, it was all about the Outlander guests. Of course, Diana Gabaldon was the first guest, and from there, it’s all grown. There is plenty to say about the support that the show’s actors, showrunners, writers, and directors offer each other when it comes to these new projects.
Among the other guests so far have been director Stephen Woolfenden and actors Richard Rankin, John Bell, and Caitriona Balfe. Lauren Lyle is the latest guest on the podcast, which is up to Episode 9. It’s certainly not too late to jump in.
The guests don’t just talk about their favorite moments on the show or anything like that. It’s like they’re chatting with each other, bringing some interesting facts that they know the Outlander fans will love. They also get the chance to act out a few things, like Diana giving her Jamie impression opposite Tim’s version of Brianna or David Berry attempting to do a Shrek (and yes, he sounded like he was a Brummie at first).
A lighthearted way to get through the week
Droughtlander is hard enough as it is. This one has been particularly hard already. Not only do we have no filming happening right now, but we don’t know when the filming can start. We’ve been isolated in our homes, struggling to deal with job losses and homeschooling.
So, we need something fun during the week. There’s no doubt that Outcasts is the way to do it.
You can tell that David and Tim are good friends. If you’ve were at Sasnak City 2019, you’ll have seen that friendship in person. They love their banter between each other, and that translates to the podcast. You’re invited into their friendship and their fun through the episodes.
The little promos for each episode are also awesome, giving us a hint of the things to come. You need to follow Outcasts on Instagram to get them straight to your feed.
