She puts others first

As soon as she gave birth, Jamie was taken. There was no way that Jenny would sit around and hope that Claire would find him. So, she jumped straight on a horse and helped Claire track where the Redcoats had gone.

Of course, she couldn’t stay with Claire to look for Jamie. Her baby needed her. Jenny knew the fine balance between those two loves in her life.

But it’s worth pointing out that she never thought of her own discomfort on that horse. She never worried about her own health. Just that Jamie and then Maggie would need her.

She’s a hard worker

When we think of women of the past, it’s easy to picture them looking after the house or sewing. While Jenny certainly does both of them, that’s not all she does. This isn’t a woman who is afraid to get her hands dirty.

She never complains either. Laura Donnelly brought us a character who pitches in when needed and just gets on with things. Pregnancy isn’t a reason to slow down (unless there’s a problem and she has to) and she will always make sure people around her are cared for.
