Claire and Jamie learn Black Jack Randall is still alive in Outlander Book 2, Chapter 21

There’s a lot happening during Outlander Book 2, Chapter 21. This is the chapter that also brings up a lot of debate for fans when it comes to Claire and Jamie’s wishes regarding a certain dragoon captain.

While the chapter was certainly used for the show (there was no way around it), there were some substantial changes. There had to be, simply due to time available in the episodes. Combining a couple of storylines made sense for a season with 13 episodes.

This is a long chapter, though. It’s the longest (and last) of Parth Two, coming in at around one hour and 10 minutes. There are a couple of longer chapters further into the book, but I believe this is the longest chapter when focused on the Paris storyline, and a lot of it connects back to the first book.

Black Jack Randall isn’t the only character returning in this book, and I don’t mean the Duke of Sandringham, who has already been seen a few times before this. There’s a certain MacKenzie clansmen who is in Paris at the same time, continuing the Jacobite plot.

We’ll get into the breakdown of the Dragonfly in Amber chapter. After all, it’s an important one.
