Thinking about what Frank was doing now

I love the conversations that happen between Jamie and Claire throughout this episode. However, it’s the one in front of the fire that stands out the most.

Even if you hadn’t read the Outlander books or you didn’t know much about the series, you’d know that there’s something between Claire and Jamie. Something is going to happen between them in the future. And those who had read the books certainly wanted to see that part of the story happen almost immediately.

However, we need the build-up. Claire is out of time and away from Frank. All she wants is to get back to Frank, so getting these thoughts of the past and what Frank is doing now are essential for the story development. I love the show was able to work them all in to show Claire thinking of the man she loves.

Interrogation

Colum MacKenzie gives Claire the night, but he wants to speak to her the next day. He’s immediately suspicious, especially considering she’s going through some of his letters. It’s no wonder he immediately thinks spy.

Claire tries to deal with the interrogation. We see her thinking about the tips Frank gave. However, she slips up along the way.

It’s important to see her slip up. We need to see her as human, after all.
