Should Outlander Season 6 be split into two halves?
Could STARZ help with Droughtlander splitting Outlander Season 6 in two?
All eyes are on when Outlander Season 6 has started filming. But what about after that? Could STARZ help deal with the current Droughtlander by splitting the season into two halves?
This is something Wynonna Earp Season 4 is doing, partially due the already long wait because of the production company’s financial problems and mostly due to COVID-19. The first half of the season had finished filming, so it made sense to put together the season as a Part A/Part 1 and then wait until after the pandemic to return to filming to finish the season. Those episodes will likely air in 2021.
Outlander could follow suit a little. The first six episodes could be filmed with post-production completed first. They could air while the second set of six episodes filmed. There would be a small break between the two halves, but it wouldn’t feel as long as this Droughtlander and the potential next one.
And since it would take less time to film six episodes (it would still work with the way Outlander films in batches of two episodes at a time), Droughtlander could be shorter.
It would work the same as the first season, which had eight episodes, a break, and then another eight episodes. It made the wait for Season 2 shorter since production on that season could run while the second half of Season 1 was airing on STARZ.
We’re still waiting for Outlander Season 7 news
Right now, we don’t even know if there will be a seventh season. Splitting Outlander Season 6 in two could help with that.
STARZ could see how the first half of the season is going. The producers could then find out if the final episodes will be the last or not. If they’re the last, a series finale could potentially be created. That wouldn’t be possible if the whole sixth season aired at once.
If (or more like when) Season 7 is ordered, pre-production can start while filming the sixth season is happening. The writers are often at work on the next season while the current season is filming or in post-production. This could mean filming could start up quickly and there wouldn’t be a long Droughtlander between the seasons.
