5 best Jamie moments from the Outlander series premiere
What were the five best Jamie moments from the Outlander series premiere?
As we mark the anniversary of the Outlander series premiere, we look into Jamie’s best moments from the episode. He was only in half of the episode, but he still stood out for various reasons.
We don’t get to know Jamie all that much in the premiere. However, it’s clear that he and Claire have chemistry. Even if you didn’t know the books or the show, it’s clear that he’s an important part of Claire’s life in the past.
Trusting Claire to work
Jamie meets Claire in the hut. She’s just been brought in by Murtagh, but he’s busy dealing with his dislocated shoulder. Rupert and Angus are about to force the shoulder back in, but Claire stops them. She knows how to do it without breaking Jamie’s arm.
He doesn’t bat an eyelid. He simply trusts her to put his shoulder back in place, even though he’s shocked that it doesn’t hurt after she’s done it.
Later on, he instantly trusts her to work her magic on the bullet wound. It’s just the start of his trust in her skills.
Keeping Claire warm
Jamie is a gentleman. We’d hope that most of the men would offer their plaids to keep Claire warm on the journey to Castle Leoch, but I don’t think a lot of them would think about it. Jamie knows that Claire is cold, even if she won’t admit it. So, he doesn’t even offer. He just makes it clear that she’s taking the plaid.
It’s clear that Jamie isn’t like the other men. There’s more to him to come in Outlander Season 1.
Listening to Claire’s warnings about Cocknammon rock
Claire risks a lot by sharing the information of the ambush, but Jamie listens and takes her warnings seriously. Part of it is that he can see how it’s perfect for an ambush. Even if she’s a spy, it’s information he needs to use.
I don’t think a lot of the men would initially listen to Claire. They’d ride into the ambush without even thinking about it.
Getting Claire back
While fighting the British soldiers, Claire attempts to escape. Jamie goes after her and gets her back. He’s not letting her wander the Scottish Highlands, and not just because he’s not sure if he can trust her. It’s all about survival. There’s no way Claire would survive the night. At least, he doesn’t think so.
He makes it clear that he’s not letting her go. She either comes back with him or he carries her. It’s up to her.
Seeing the connection forming
Throughout the Outlander series premiere, we see the bond that is forming between the two of them. This is important for the show.
There’s no doubt that Jamie likes Claire and not just the look of her. He trusts her without question. He listens to her. This is a man who is quickly falling in love, and we can see it happening on screen.
