Get The Longest Summer by Richard Rankin now

The Outlander actors are in their own Droughtlander thanks to COVID-19. They’re unable to film Season 6, which means many are looking for other things to do. For many of them, it’s about bringing help and support to others, which is something Richard Rankin is certainly doing.

Best known as Roger on the series, Rankin has turned to music to offer help. This isn’t just for fans trying to get through Droughtlander, but he’s helping to raise funds for the National Theatre of Scotland Hardship Fund. It’s a way for actors, artists, and others in the entertainment industry to gain some money during this difficult time.

The Longest Summer now available to purchase

Richard Rankin is doing that by releasing “The Longest Summer,” a new track that starts off with a small scene of Rankin thinking back to the “past.” It’s a story that many of us may be telling in the future, especially many of our children. Those thoughts of summer lasting from March to whenever children get to go back to school.

One of the beauties of this song is the way it brings positivity and hope. We’re in a state of emergency and it’s impossible not to think of the downsides. Children in the future will likely think of the good that happened, whether it was spending more time with their families or seeing what the world has to offer in terms of wildlife.

Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie (known as Noisemaker) wrote the song. Jemima Levick directed the video, which offers snapshots of Glasgow and local areas.

Don’t like it? Still get it!

Even if you don’t like the track, it’s still worthy to buy if you can. After all, the money isn’t going to some singer that has millions in the bank from decades of successful hits. The proceeds are going towards the National Theatre of Scotland Hardship Fund. It’s a worthy purchase.

There may be more to come in the future. After all, who knows how long they’ll be waiting to film Outlander Season 6!
