Diana Gabaldon expects to do virtual readings when Outlander Book 9 is released
Get ready for virtual readings of Outlander Book 9 when it’s released
If there’s one thing we’re excited for, it’s Outlander Book 9. “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” doesn’t yet have a release date, but Diana Gabaldon is still working on it.
When a new book is released, authors tend to do book tours. Fans look forward to having their Outlander books signed by Herself, but that likely isn’t going to happen this year. The continued problem of the coronavirus is preventing events taking place, and Gabaldon doesn’t see that changing any time soon.
So, it means things have to be done virtually. Will Diana Gabaldon hold virtual readings of her ninth book once it’s released? You bet she will.
At least, that’s what she’s planning on!
A chance for international fans to see her read
One of the downsides of in-person readings is that people out of town or out of the country struggle to get there. They’d love to be there in person, but finances and time off work tend to get in the way in a non-COVID world.
In a way, COVID-19 has cut out that problem. Yes, there are a lot of negatives, but let’s look at the way things are changing for fandoms in a positive way.
SDCC 2020 went virtual to allow people all over the world to experience the panels. The Paley Center has released a number of virtual panels and will have more coming for PaleyFest this month. Now fans will get the chance to experience one of Diana Gabaldon’s readings.
Nothing is set in stone just yet. We don’t even know when the ninth book will be released. Gabaldon often says “soon,” but “soon” is a relative term. We’ll get it when we get it and not a minute sooner. At least we have these virtual readings to look forward to. Hopefully, they do happen!
