Foreshadowing within the Outlander Book 2 chapter
There is plenty of foreshadowing within this chapter, mostly that Roger and Brianna are going to eventually learn the truth. This isn’t about Brianna not being Frank’s child, but about time travel, about Jamie, and about Claire’s role with the Jacobites.
We get a lot of clues up to this point that tells us the truth will come out. Claire doesn’t want Brianna to head to the stones because there’s a chance Bree can travel through them. The last thing Claire wants is for Bree to be pulled towards them.
Something that I did note is that Roger mentions how he’d taken girls up there. It’s a popular make-out spot. However, he doesn’t mention ever hearing the buzz from the stones. I do think this foreshadows that the stones aren’t exact. They don’t always open for people, because we know that Roger can time travel.
Speaking of time travel, I think there’s a sense that Fiona knows something. She mentions how she got all of Mrs. Graham’s cookbooks being the only granddaughter. There’s a sense that she may have gained more, such as the knowledge of the stones and time travel. Plus, with her being nosey, is there a chance that she has a sense of who Claire is and is looking over Roger’s research?
There is also the foreshadowing of how Brianna will learn and take the news of finding out Frank isn’t her birth father. It’s not going to be easy learning something after 20 years of believing one thing.
