14. Episode 2: Teaching Roger how to shoot
The earlier episodes had some good moments, even though they weren’t all standout moments. One of those moments was teaching Roger how to shoot. He needed to learn, being Jamie’s second-in-commend, but he didn’t even know where to start.
Brianna did. She took him to the woods and taught him in the way that Frank taught her. We get this sense that Frank had always known she would go to the past; that she would need to learn the skills of the 18th century. At the same time, it’s that support she can offer Roger.
She never makes him feel bad for his lack of skills. But she wants him to learn.
13. Episode 4: Bonding with Marsali
Something I wished could have happened on Outlander Season 4 was to see some bonding between Marsali and Brianna. Knowing they’d both end up at Fraser’s Ridge, we’d need to see them get to know each other and bond as sisters.
That’s what we got to see early on during Outlander Season 5. During Episode 4, Brianna found a coin in Jemmy’s basket and she immediately fears that it is from Bonnet. Marsali can sense something is wrong, especially when Bree is so terrified at Jemmy crawling to a different part of the house.
Marsali gets a chance to tell a story about her abusive father. She opens up in a way that we haven’t seen her open up to others (although she probably has with Fergus). It’s an important bonding moment for the two and Bree is more than happy to be receptive.
