Claire meets Grannie MacNab in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 28

Outlander Book 1, Chapter 28 is a chance to get to see Claire settle in at life at Lallybroch. In fact, she finds herself wishing that they could remain here. She doesn’t just love seeing Jamie at home, but she loves the pace and the simplicity of life.

However, there is a little bit of drama. There’s the fear that Jamie and Claire could be taken away at a minute’s notice when some dragoon ride up. Fortunately, Corporal Hawkins and Captain Randall aren’t among them, but it reminds us of the danger that the two remain in.

Most importantly, we get a chance to meet Grannie MacNab, whose reason for being there is clearly going to come up at some point in the book. This is also a chapter that is used but adapted for the sake of the show, and I think it’s more to do with getting to know a particular Fraser family member than anything else.

Like the previous chapter, this is one of the shorter ones. It comes in at around 30 minutes on Audible. These last few chapters have certainly been refreshing after the two longer chapters that we’d been through. They also continue that breather that we need after so much drama so far.

Let’s get into the breakdown of Outlander Book 1, Chapter 28.
