Claire learns what Jamie found out from Horrocks in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 23

Outlander Book 1, Chapter 23 is the last chapter of Part Three. It also sees Claire and Jamie fully back on the same page, as Jamie opens up a little more to his new wife.

This chapter is relatively short, especially compared to the next two chapters! It comes in at about 56 minutes on Audible, and there is a lot of detail woven into the chapter through Claire’s thoughts, especially when it comes to the time back at Leoch.

Just a warning about the next two chapters, they are long. Chapter 24 is set to take about three hours of reading and Chapter 25 is set to take two hours. I completely understand if you slow down at this point because both chapters do have some clear breaks in between. I’ll still do the single posts for the two chapters so just catch up when you get a chance!

There is an extra special part of this chapter that wasn’t used in the TV show at this point. It’s all to do with a ring. Otherwise, a lot of this is included in the show with a bit of invention so we get to see what Jamie was doing—or more like what Laoghaire was doing.

Let’s take some time to break down this chapter, as there was certainly a little foreshadowing going on. I also want to share my thoughts on why things were changed for the series.
