Claire gets fighting lessons in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 18

After meeting Hugh Munro, we head back to Claire and Jamie traveling with the men. It’s time to finish up the journey of taking rent, but Jamie still needs to meet Horrocks. Before that, Claire needs to learn how to use a knife in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 18.

While there’s a lot happening within the chapter, the events complement each other. We get a sense of the men working together, while also bringing Claire in as part of the group. Now that she’s married to Jamie, there’s a sense of trust with her. The men have completely changed their views.

Much of this chapter was used on the TV show. While it doesn’t foreshadow too much, it is important for the bond between Claire and the others and getting to see a little more of life out in the Highlands. We get more of a sense of the clans, so it’s no wonder the TV show kept this in for the most part.

On Audible, this is about a 30-minute chapter. It’s not long in essence, but it can take time to read through it. You’ll want to pay close attention because of the details as Claire watches the men fighting.

Let’s get into the breakdown for Outlander Book 1, Chapter 18.
