Taking a deeper look at Outlander Book 1, Chapter 7
We’re at the end of our first week with the Outlander Book Club. I hope you’re all enjoying it as much as I am. I love hearing your thoughts about storylines in the book, any foreshadowing that stands out, and the connections to the show.
Today, we’re onto Outlander Book 1, Chapter 7. This is a chapter that was used towards the end of the second episode. However, there were also moments from this chapter that never made it to the show. I’ll discuss that in the show adaptation section of the post, as I do have my thoughts on it.
Old Alec was introduced properly during this chapter, although previously mentioned during the dinner scene. He certainly knows who Jamie is, but is careful about his wording, even while Claire sleeps.
Meanwhile, Claire becomes the castle’s healer. It’s time for her to almost accept that she’s going to be stuck in the past for some time until she can figure out a way to escape.
Let’s take a deeper look at the chapter. I’ll share my thoughts on some of the storylines, especially queries I have about a certain MacKenzie war chief.
