2. Episode 11: Lighting the cross
These last two moments are from the final two episodes. The first is when Jamie found out that Claire had been taken. He went straight out to the cross and called the men to war. He never lit this for Alamance or anything else that he didn’t believe in. He only called them when Claire was in danger.
It was a show of force. This made it clear that the only important thing to Jamie is his family. Threaten them and he will bring hell down on people.
It also showed his need and trust of his men. He knew they would come. And he could trust them to join in to save his wife.
1. Episode 12: Kill them all
While the scenes in the woods were horrific, Jamie had his best moment. After finding Claire and taking out some of the men, he found out that there were still men living. He needed to decide what to do with them.
Jamie knew that Claire couldn’t kill them. She’d made an oath to save lives and there wasn’t any chance that he would expect her to break it. He would do the killing for her—and so would Fergus and Young Ian.
He wanted to know which men he should kill for violating her. Claire couldn’t tell him which ones had raped her and which ones hadn’t. So, he wasted no time in telling the men to “kill the all.” And the way he said it gave me goosebumps.
