Jamie’s best moments from the whole of Outlander Season 5

These types of posts are never easy to write. There are some excellent moments throughout the season, and we all have moments that stand out for various reasons. But here are my top 15 Jamie moments from the whole of Outlander Season 5.

They’re not necessarily my favorite moments from the individual episodes. This is because as the season goes on a moment that didn’t stand out all that much earlier in the season may have stood out more because of something that happened later. Also, with rewatches, I find other moments stand out a little more as I gain more of an understanding of reasons behind the actions.

I will also join some moments together. For example, something that happened in the premiere with Murtagh meant far more because of something later in the season, and those moments sort of become joined together. It’s hard to separate them.

Here goes my 15 favorite Jamie moments from the whole season.

15. Episode 9: Fearing the loss of his leg

When Jamie was bitten by the snake, he realized that he could lose his life. One thing he couldn’t lose was is leg. We got this moment of him telling Claire that she should let him die.

This was such a human reaction to the whole situation. It led to an excellent moment for Young Ian, but it was also brilliant for Jamie. There was this level of humanity and fear within him. The last thing he wanted was to feel like part of a man. He’d spent all this time looking after others, he couldn’t imagine being the one everyone had to look after.

Of course, he eventually realized flaws in his argument. He accepted that the loss of his leg was better than the loss of his life. And at the last minute, Brianna came through for him to help save his leg. But the raw fear of losing a part of him was excellent to see—and brilliantly acted by Sam Heughan.
