2. Ulysses’s actions

Did anyone else wonder if the show was going to completely change things with Jocasta during Outlander Season 5, Episode 10? Fortunately, Ulysses heard the bell and quickly took care of Forbes, snapping his neck.

But those aren’t the actions that I loved. It was the moment when he thinks Jocasta has died. With no CPR or knowledge of that in this time, Ulysses didn’t think there would be a way to help Jocasta if she had died. After saying “Mistress” twice, he opts for “Jocasta” on the third call, making it clear that there’s so much more between the two of them than a slave and his owner.

Those tears certainly showed that she means the world to him. There is a bigger story in the books. Is this a hint that it will be explored on the show?

1. Stephen Bonnet’s death

Oh yes, Bonnet’s death had to come up. Actually, there was a lot about Bonnet that I loved during this episode. It’s not really his death that I loved but the meaning of the death and Brianna’s actions.

Bonnet opened up to Bree in a way you can tell he’s never done before. He told her about his greatest fear. A man who loves the sea is scared of drowning, which certainly seems ironic (and it reminds me a little of Sonny on SEAL Team). Death by drowning would have been terrifying for him, and it’s such a big thing for Brianna to kill him.

Mercy or not, that’s what she gave him in his time of need. Did he deserve it? Probably not, but it makes Bree the person that she is.
