4. Marsali keeping Claire calm

When Jamie first returned from the woods, Claire went through everything she needed—and everything she didn’t have. Claire’s fears of losing Jamie were starting to get the better of her.

Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 allowed Marsali to step up. She was the one that ran through everything that they did have. Marsali ran through everything that they could do at the time. She was the one that helped Claire remain calm and took control of some situations.

This was the best use of Marsali. She’s level-headed and capable in a crisis. If you put Marsali in the present day, she’d make an excellent first responder or ER nurse/doctor. This is the woman you need in a crisis.

3. The women taking care of the bison

While it wasn’t the same as the book and yes, I do question Brianna getting up without a limp, seeing the women take care of the bison was excellent. We saw Brianna’s motherly instincts to protect Jemmy. Claire quickly took control and shot down the bison.

More importantly, we saw that not everyone reacts well in a crisis. Lizzie panicked and cried. It was so perfect for her personality but also the reminder that none of us know how we would react in a crisis until that crisis happened.

And of course, we had Jamie pulling himself outside just wrapped in a sheet. There wasn’t much he could do, but he still felt that need to protect the women—not that they needed it.
