Which baby did Marsali have on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9?

Marsali Fraser gave birth to her third baby on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9. Which baby was it? Did the show stick to the book storyline?

There was one question all fans had about Marsali on Outlander Season 5 since finding out she was having another baby. Which baby would this be? Would the show follow the book storyline or skip a child?

Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 told us which child she had at the very end of the episode. Fergus announced they named the baby Felicite, although he didn’t mention the reasoning for the name. I don’t remember a reason for her name being given in the books, either. The order of children follows the books so far on the show.

Keeping the order makes sense, especially with the timing of the birth. Marsali gave birth while Claire, Young Ian, Brianna, and Roger were trying to save Jamie’s life. Of course, babies don’t understand good timing and wee Felicite was not going to wait for anyone.

The idea of skipping Felicite and opting for Marsali to give birth to the child who will be her fourth seems crazy, especially with the timing of the birth compared to everything else happening. Baby Henri-Christian is the fourth child, but his birth is anything but normal. The child is a dwarf, which brings about some major storylines for Marsali and Fergus, as well as the whole Fraser clan.

Henri-Christian’s birth deserves an episode in itself. It deserves a bigger storyline because of what this means for the couple and what it means in the 18th century. The idea of putting this at the end of the snake bite episode would be disrespectful to both of these book storylines. I’m glad the show has stuck to the baby order.
