3 best Claire moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 8
Claire had a scary thought about Roger on Outlander Season 5, Episode 8. Here are my three favorite Claire moments from the episode.
Claire feared the worst about Roger on Outlander Season 5, Episode 8, but it turned out to be the wrong man to worry about. While this episode was mostly about Roger and Young Ian, Claire had some strong moments throughout. It’s time to break down my three favorite moments.
Throughout “Famous Last Words,” we got the chance to see Claire as a grandmother. There was a chance to see her support her daughter and offer words of advice. Here are the three moments that stood out for me.
3. The discussions of shell shock
During the episode, Claire was there for Brianna. She had helped Roger recover physically, but her daughter needed her help as well during this dark time. Claire sat and discussed what could be wrong with Roger, focusing on shell shock.
It certainly made sense for Bree to talk to Claire about this. After all, Claire had seen men come back from war—she had seen them during war. She could be a sounding board for Brianna to get her thoughts out, offering words of advice without judgment during the episode.
I’ve always loved the Claire and Brianna moments. While I know many would love to see more Bree and Jamie moments, I need more of these mother and daughter moments.
2. Fearing Roger took the herbs
After finding out that the water hemlock was missing, Claire tried to figure out what could have happened to them. She feared the worst; that Roger had taken them.
Rather than say something to Bree, Claire decided to say something to Jamie. He would understand. All she had to do was mention the dark place that Jamie was in after Wentworth and he would understand. We got a reminder of Jamie’s time after Wentworth and also saw Claire admit that Roger is in a dark place.
1. Realizing something wasn’t quite right for Young Ian
Throughout the dinner scene, Claire realized that Young Ian wasn’t quite ready to discuss his time with the Mohawk. Nor was he ready to be encouraged to go off and survey Roger’s new land.
However, Claire didn’t bring anything up to Young Ian. She found a way to move the conversation on, encouraging Jamie to give Young Ian some time. It was clear from the looks between Jamie and Claire that he understood what she was trying to do. The two certainly have a way without words.
