4. Listening to Fanny Beardsley

After Fanny gives birth to her daughter, she and Claire have the chance to talk. This is the first time we see Fanny open up. Her life had been one of fear and isolation, so it’s not surprising that she was standoffish when Claire and Jamie turned up, especially with what she’d been doing to her husband.

Claire could have turned against Fanny after everything she’d witnessed. Instead, she took time to listen and understand. It certainly shows the caring side of Claire, and it’s a reminder of why she needs a female friend of her own age in the series!
