Actors can learn a lot from the characters they play, and that’s certainly been the case for Caitriona Balfe during her time on Outlander.
Many actors will share that they’ve learned things from their characters. Most of the time, it’s aspects of personality. Caitriona Balfe has played Claire on Outlander for many years, and she’s certainly picked up a few pointers.
Towards the end of an interview she did during STARZ’s TCAs, Balfe shared that she is honored to play Claire. This is a character who is multi-faceted. While not perfect, she tries to be the best version of herself and is a wonderful character to portray on-screen.
Balfe admits that it’s the passion that Claire has that is inspiring. We’ve seen the passion Claire has for Jamie, but that’s not all. She’s passionate about her career, her family, and even life in general. She wants to live life as fully as possible.
This zest for life that Balfe has, but she admits that Claire is a little more responsible. Balfe shares that she’s learned more responsibility while playing the role, which has certainly shone through Twitter, where Balfe routinely uses her platform to raise awareness for causes that she’s passionate about.
It was during this interview that Balfe also shared a little more about the contracts. While many of us through the original contracts were for seven years, it turns out that it’s for seven seasons. Maybe this is something that was renegotiated with the producer credits for Season 5. Either way, during the interview, Balfe shares that they are contracted for one more season after Season 6.
Now we’re just waiting for STARZ to make a decision. There’s a lot of hope that Outlander Season 7 will happen, and we’ll see the continued growth Claire Fraser and others receive.
