Outlander Season 5: Jamie vs. Murtagh doesn’t turn out too well?
During an interview, Sam Heughan gave a tease about Jamie and Murtagh in Outlander Season 5. What could he possibly mean?
During the winter TCAs, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe took part in a number of interviews. One of those gave Sam a chance to tease a little of what’s to come in Outlander Season 5, specifically for Jamie and Murtagh.
At the start of the interview, he shares that things don’t go so well with Jamie and his godfather on the opposite sides of the current fight. While the two will understand each others’ position, it’s not going to be easy when they’re so used to fighting on the same side.
However, by the end of the interview, Heughan gives another tease. He shares that Jamie is “supposedly hunting his godfather,” and it’s the “supposedly” that stands out. Is this a spoiler of what’s actually happening? Could we learn that Jamie has found a way to deal with the entire situation?
There’s no way that Jamie would want to hunt down and kill his godfather. And Murtagh wouldn’t want to give Jamie a reason to do so. The two are on opposite sides due to current circumstances, and it sounds like they’re going to find a way to avoid each other.
It’s certainly an interesting comment from Heughan. It’s the first time that I’ve heard him give any indication that Jamie is going to go against the orders of the Crown. Right now, Jamie knows that he needs to build this militia. There’s no way around it without losing his land and without putting his family in jeopardy.
This isn’t just a wife he has to think about. There are his daughter and son-in-law, his son, Fergus, and Marsali, and then his grandchildren, Jemmy, Germain, and any others who may or may not be born.
But he’s not going to want to hunt and kill Murtagh. It makes sense that he’ll try to skirt around the issue, but is this why it doesn’t end so well? Could he get caught trying to avoid the issue, putting himself in danger?
This is why I love changes from the book storyline so much. They leave us guessing and speculating over the events to come rather than just picking up the book to find out how it’s going to all play out.
