The Outlander Season 5 opening credits are here. There are some excellent moments that stand out, giving us a hint of things to come.

Whatever you think of the actual opening theme song for Outlander Season 5, the opening credits have some excellent moments. There are scenes that give us a hint of the things to come in the fifth season, based on the novel “The Fiery Cross.”

Some elements stand out more than others. Here are my five favorite moments from the Season 5 opening credits.

5. Producer credits

Let’s start with the producer credits. We knew they were happening, and now we get to see them. Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are officially producers on the show. They got more say closer to the end, once they learned the ropes a little more, and they are both excited about this season.

The more we’re reminded that they’re part of the people making the decisions now, the more we’re excited for the upcoming season. After all, they are strong champions for important moments in the novels.

4. Keeping elements of Season 1

Every season, certain elements of the first season remain part of the credits. This season, we still have the women dancing around the stones in the 1940s and that clip of Claire’s legs as she’s running through the forest in the past.

They’re all memories of the past, all moments that led us to this point. I love that we keep some of those moments even into the fifth season.

3. The Big House

Did you spot the Big House? Of course you did! This is an extremely important part of the growing family on the Ridge. Brianna and Roger will get the cabin, so they have a place to call home. Meanwhile, Jamie and Claire get the bigger house, one fit for a laird and his lady.

It’s so fun to see it included in the credits. Not being able to see the cabin also tells you how far away Bree and Roger are from Claire and Jamie.

There are also clips of Claire’s surgery, which reminds us that this is going to be a bigger part of the story in Season 5. I can’t wait!

2. Tensions rising

Throughout the Outlander Season 5 opening credits, there is the reminder of the rising tensions. There are moments of the Redcoats with a few soldiers behind them, likely the militia. Then there are moments of battle, which is possible of the Alamance.

There is an image of someone dragging a person. There are clips of fighting. It’s clear that the Frasers and MacKenzies are in a dangerous time.

1. Brianna and Roger at the end

At the very end, there’s a clip of Brianna and Roger standing together. Bree reaches out to take Roger’s hand. The camera remains on the back of them, and then we cut to Claire and Jamie standing together, overlooking the scenery.

I love that we get these two images together. Bree and Roger are becoming more important parts of the story, and this reminds us of it. They are also the second couple, and the use of a similar clip of them together like Claire and Jamie makes this clear.
