Former Outlander champion, Chris Albrecht, lands new job
Chris Albrecht was a strong supporter of Outlander when he was STARZ’s CEO. Now he’s landed a new job, and it only means great things for the future.
Outlander fans will certainly know the name Chris Albrecht. The former STARZ CEO was the man who continually fought for our series. He was a strong supporter of the show, both of Claire and Jamie as characters. Now he has a new job, and it means great things for Legendary TV.
It was a sad day when Albrecht stepped down as CEO. STARZ was heading in a different direction to push Lionsgate content (understandably since Lionsgate owns STARZ, and that meant a change in leadership. Outlander fans worried about what this would mean. After all, he was the bigger supporter of the series.
Right now, there’s still nothing to worry about. STARZ continues to push Outlander‘s promotion in aid of its success. It is the second-most popular show on the premium cable network behind Power, which is coming to an end in February. However, that didn’t stop some from worrying about what Chris Albrecht’s departure would mean.
We can’t say for certain that Albrecht’s departure is good or bad for Outlander. However, we can say it’s good for his future. He’s landed a job as the man running International TV at Legendary TV. It’s a job many before him have had without much success, but we know Albrecht can beat the odds. He’s done it in the past.
Look at the transformation to STARZ when he took over! Look at all the good he did at HBO before that. Plus, Chris Albrecht will have a stake in Legendary TV’s international TV run, so he’s got a personal reason to see this succeed.
Legendary TV has been behind Lost in Space and Carnival Row, which were sold onto Netflix and Amazon Prime respectively. It’s already proven to be a space for quality content, and now it’s time to bring more of it. With Albrecht at the helm, we know that’s possible.
According to Deadline, Albrecht made it clear when he left STARZ that he wanted to remain in the streaming space. That’s something Legendary TV will offer. He wants to work with talent and with creative shows. Even if the shows don’t do well, he’s proud to be able to look back creatively and say they were worth doing. We’re hoping for much more of that in the future.
