Outlander Season 5: Will we get to see the baptism play out like in The Fiery Cross?
The Fiery Cross has a number of small moments in the lead-up to the wedding. Not all can play out in Outlander Season 5, but will the baptism be kept in?
There are a number of great moments that will either have to be moved or skipped at the start of “The Fiery Cross.” They take place before Brianna and Roger’s wedding, which is slated to take place in Outlander Season 5’s premiere. One moment I hope will be kept in is the baptism.
It takes place during Chapter 13 of “The Fiery Cross,” and involves a discussion of religion, a funny confession, and illegal activities. There are elements that would need to be changed since Germain is older than he will be in Outlander Season 5 and Marsali and Fergus have their second child. However, that doesn’t mean this moment has to be skipped altogether.
In fact, it’s an important part of the story in the beginning. This moment shows the importance of faith to Jamie. He won’t allow his grandchildren’s souls to be at risk. And yes, there is an important reminder that he views Marsali and Fergus’ children as his grandchildren. Fergus is, for all intents and purposes, his son.
We also get to see Brianna and Marsali together. While not much is said about their relationship, it’s important to remember the chapter is told from Claire’s point of view. In the fifth season, it would be told from a third-person POV, which means we could get to see more of Brianna and Marsali bonding together.
There’s also an element of danger to the baptism. This will be a Catholic ceremony, which is outlawed in the Colonies. It would add drama to an episode, as we continue to focus on the fact that Jamie is Catholic, along with the majority of the family. In fact, only Roger is left out in this instance, but he still allows the baptism to take place, knowing that it’s important for everyone else.
