2. His reaction when he learned about Bonnet
After being saved by Claire and Jamie, Roger learned of everything that had happened to Brianna. At first, he was happy to hear she was pregnant. Of course he’d return to her! But then he learned she had been raped, and by none other than Stephen Bonnet.
The memories of the ship came through. The knowledge that Bonnet was the reason Brianna had left and he’d been sold to the Mohawks came back to him. His hatred of Bonnet could have stood in the way, and you could tell that throughout the scene.
1. Returning to help Father Alexandre
The biggest standout Roger moment in 2019 has to be from “Providence.” After the speech about saving himself, Roger had the chance to do just that. He escaped the “idiot hut” as Father Alexandre was taken to burn.
Roger walked down the path, hearing the screams of the priest. And there Roger realized that he couldn’t be selfish. He needed to end the priest’s suffering, and so he returned to the village and threw the gunpowder on the fire. It killed the priest immediately, even if it did put him even worse bad books with the Mohawks.
