Jenny will get the chance to meet Roger in Outlander Book 9. But she’s met him before. How will she react when she sees him 40 years later?

Outlander Book 9 will be here soon. While we’ve had to wait, it’s given us more time to reread the books and think of storylines to come in the ninth installment in the book series by Diana Gabaldon. One of those questions we have for “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” surrounds Jenny. How will she react when she meets Roger?

As you’ll remember, Jenny and Roger have already met. This was 40 years ago for Jenny, though. Remember that Roger went through the stones and ended up further in the past. He ended up with the Murrays for a time, which meant meeting Jenny.

It shouldn’t have been too bad. I mean, Jenny didn’t seem interested in leaving Lallybroch behind. Of course, with Ian Murray’s death came the decision from Jenny to finally join her family in the Colonies. There’s a huge story surrounding that, but we won’t get into that now. All we need to focus on is the fact that Brianna and Roger are back with their children from their time and were seen walking to Fraser’s Ridge.

There’s where Outlander Book 8 left us, and we know that Jenny is going to get to see Roger again. So, how will she react?

This is a woman with the memory of an elephant. While it may have been 40 years, she’ll remember Roger’s face. Maybe not right away, but eventually, she’ll figure out that this is a man she met before. Yet, while she’s 40 years old, he hasn’t aged that much. It’s going to be immediately obvious that there’s something going on.

Jenny does know about time travel. Claire finally shared that secret with her and the rest of the Murray family. Of course, Jenny likely didn’t believe that, but now she’s going to realize that Roger is a time traveler too, that everything Claire said is true. Everything will click into place.

And this is Jenny. She’ll feel angry that she wasn’t told everything from the start. There will be part of her that will feel betrayed. But at the same time, she’ll understand why she wasn’t told. Who would believe in time travel?
