Will The Crown Season 3 come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Outlander fans have flocked to The Crown Season 3 to see Tobias Menzies in a new role. Will fans be able to watch The Crown on DVD and Blu-ray?
If you’ve enjoyed seeing Tobias Menzies in a new role, you likely want to watch it over and over again. Right now, the only option is to keep your Netflix subscription, but can Outlander fans own The Crown Season 3 on DVD in the future?
I know since it’s a Netflix original, you’re likely thinking it will never come to DVD. However, previous seasons of the Royal Family drama have come to DVD and Blu-ray in the past. You can currently own both seasons in one boxset. That means there’s a high chance that The Crown Season 3 will get the DVD and Blu-ray treatment.
When it will be released is another topic for discussion. It took about 11 months for the seasons to head to DVD and Blu-ray in the past. That means we’re looking at November 2020 at the earliest that The Crown Season 3 will be available.
This isn’t all that surprising. A year is usually the time it takes for a Netflix series to bring the new season. In some cases, it’s 14 months or so. However, there are exceptions, where it can take two years for the new season to be released, which was the case for the third season of the historical drama.
Netflix will want to keep the episodes as exclusive as possible. That’s especially the case now that more streaming services are being released. Bringing out shows on DVD will lead to people buying them instead of paying consistently for a subscription. However, once DVDs have been released, it’s unlikely to suddenly stop.
