STARZ has released one of the official Outlander Season 5 posters. There are no characters. Instead, we’re focusing on The Fiery Cross.

Outlander Season 5 is almost here. We’re slowly getting through Droughtlander, and STARZ is certainly making things easier this year. After revealing some images for the show, we now get the official Season 5 poster. Will it be the official key art? It would certainly be a beautiful option.

There are no characters at all in the Outlander Season 5 poster. This isn’t about the characters, but about the cross that stands tall. It’s a connection back to the Scottish heritage, focusing on culture instead of just on one religion. After all, there are now two religions in the Fraser/MacKenzie family with Roger being raised as a Presbyterian.

This cross also links to the title of the fifth book, “The Fiery Cross,” which Season 5 is based on. Will the cross actually be set on fire?

What’s more important about the Outlander Season 5 poster is the tagline. “Make An Oath.” Last season, we had “Brave New World,” as Claire and Jamie ventured into the Colonies. This tagline also linked to Brianna and Roger’s journey into the past, braving the world that was completely new to them.

So, what does “Make An Oath” suggest? Will it be a blood oath? We’re still waiting for that to happen. It takes place at the end of Book 4 in the series but was cut out of Season 4 in favor of the cliffhanger. After all, the writers knew they could add it into the season.

Could we finally see Claire and Jamie make their oath to each other? This was cut out of Season 2 and the writers have tried to add the carving of the initials in later seasons but things have never worked out. Will it all work out now?

Another option is that this is an oath to Jamie. Will he call on his tenants to make an oath to him? Or will he want Roger to make an oath to protect Brianna?

There are so many possibilities, and they could all legitimately happen. This is the season of oath-making; there’s no doubt about that.
