4. Support, love, and understanding
A relationship needs all three. There’s no doubt about that. This relationship especially needs all three.
With everything that happened in the fourth season, the two will need to be each other’s rocks. Roger will need to understand Bree’s fear of intimacy. Brianna will need to understand Roger’s worries about not providing for her. They have both been through so many perilous situations up to this point, and supporting each other is going to be essential.
That support also needs to continue in other parts of their lives now in the past. Brianna will need to understand Roger’s uncertainty around Jamie after everything that happened, but Roger is going to need to get over it if he wants to be with Bree! Brianna can support him through that, but also support him if Jamie expects too much or makes a bad call.
3. Dealing with the highs and lows of being parents
Parenthood is a wild journey. We haven’t had the chance to see it from Claire’s point of view, with much of Brianna’s younger years being skipped. Marsali and Fergus had their baby during Season 4 but we didn’t see too much of their journey as parents. That should change with Brianna and Roger.
The two need to figure out who they are individually after their ordeals, but they also need to figure out who they are as parents. There are going to be plenty of highs and lows, and I hope to see some of them throughout the course of the season.
