Next week, we’ll be able to see Caitriona Balfe in action as the wonderful Mollie Miles in Ford v Ferrari. Before we do, here’s what you need to know.

The majority of racing movies will see the doting wife worried about her husband while in a fast car. It’s a trope that Ford v Ferrari avoids when it comes to Mollie Miles, played by Outlander‘s Caitriona Balfe.

Next week, we’ll get a chance to see Balfe in action in the role. Before that, here are five important facts you need to know about the wife of the legend.

5. She was a driver, too

Something that many people don’t realize is that Mollie Miles was a driver to. This should be something that comes up in Ford v Ferrari as it will play an important part in the relationship between Mollie and Ken.

It’s her love of cars and driving that stop her from fearing what could happen to Ken on the race track. Granted, Ken did die from a race test gone wrong (not in the movie, but it came after 1966) but it was never something Mollie allowed herself to show fear of happening.
