2. Finding comfort in Claire

After everything that happened with Black Jack Randall, Fergus had nightmares. He refused to talk to anyone, taking on the burden himself. Maybe it was because Claire was grieving or maybe it was because of shame. It could have been a bit of both.

Whatever the reason doesn’t matter. When Claire heard Fergus’ screams in the night, she went to him. Finally, Young Fergus was able to open up. He trusted in Claire, seeking comfort from her and showing his trust in her. It was a beautiful moment for both characters, in spite of the circumstances.

1. Being there for Claire

Faith being stillborn was heartbreaking for Claire. All the servants at the house didn’t really know how to react. Many of them seemed to keep their distance after Claire returned home. However, Young Fergus was different.

Despite everything he was going through, he was there for Claire. With Jamie in the Bastille, he stepped up to be the man of the house. When she needed something, he made sure she got it, and that included brushing her hair.

Fergus showed his maturity and love within these scenes. They will always go down as some of my favorite for Young Fergus in the series.
