12. Being the one to deliver the bad news to Brianna

At the very end of the season, Claire and Jamie returned to River Run without either Young Ian or Roger. The latter was the more devastating of the two for Brianna. She had hoped that her parents would find him and bring Roger back to her.

In the end, Claire was the one to deliver the bad news. It could only be her considering the way Jamie and Bree had left things. But it was more the fact that Claire didn’t need to use any words. The expressions told Brianna everything.

This was another moment of Claire just being a mother, something Brianna needed at the time. She was able to comfort her daughter, putting the need to hold and see her grandson to one side as she delivered the bad news.

11. Seeing Murtagh again

It was because of this moment that I have more of an appreciation for Outlander Season 1’s “The Search.” That episode annoyed me the first time (and not because of the change to the book but because I initially found it dull) but on multiple rewatches, I’ve appreciated it more.

We got this sweet and happy reunion. Claire had a huge smile on her face as Murtagh whistled the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. It continued that development of the bond between them, showing just how much the cared for, loved, and respected one another.

I get the feeling that this was one of those people Claire didn’t realize how much she loved until he was gone. And she didn’t realize how much she missed until he was back in her life.
