Newhailes House, East Lothian

A number of new buildings had to be found for Outlander Season 4 and one of those was the 17th-century Palladian villa of Newhailes House. It became Governor Tryon’s home in North Carolina when he and Jamie discussed everything involving the land grant in exchange for Jamie’s loyalty to the British Crown. This was also the place Jamie and Claire were introduced to the society at Wilmington.

You can head to the estates throughout the year. However, entry to the house is only during specific times at an admission price. There are guided tours throughout, which will likely now include mentions of the series.

Gray Buchanan Park, Polmont by Falkirk

Gray Buchanan Park is also known as Parkhill to the local people and is the location for the beginning of Outlander Season 4. This is where Sam Heughan and John Bell shot the scenes for when Jamie and Young Ian buried Gavin Hayes after being hanged in Charleston.

There is no actual graveyard in the park. This was added in by the crew, but you can see the surrounding areas from the scene. It’s a beautiful location, open throughout the year and is completely free to visit.
