Calderglen Country Park, South Lanarkshire

One of my favorite locations when living in Scotland was Calderglen Country Park. It’s perfect to allow the kids to run around, there’s a zoo to visit (for a small fee), and, of course, there’s Torrance House that you can visit on days that it’s open. Located in East Kilbride, it’s only about 30 minutes from Glasgow City Center.

But what was it used for during Season 4? This was the place Willie and Jamie went hunting. You’ll get to see the wooded area that they camped, as well as the location Willie’s life was put in danger because of his somewhat brattish (he was spoiled but he was also at that age he thought he knew better!) ways.

Beecraigs Country Park, West Lothian

When Claire and Jamie left River Run, they went through a forest area. In the end, they found their home — although this isn’t where you’ll find Fraser’s Ridge! Instead, this was the part where Claire and Jamie went through the thunderstorm. You’ll be able to find the ground haunted by Otter Tooth.

The park is open throughout the year and free to the public. You can see Beecraigs Loch, which is perfect for fly fishing, and go through the adventure play area with the kids. You’ll also see a variety of local wildlife, including red deer and Highland cattle! This is certainly a perfect place for some downtime during your Outlander tour.
