4. Claire planning ahead with the open door

When Claire made her way through the hallways of Wentworth, I wondered what she was doing. All I wanted was for her to get to Jamie, save him, and get out. Instead, she headed to one of the doors.

I wondered if the others were waiting for her on the other side, but that wasn’t the case. It was only later clear that she’d been planning ahead. Claire showed her ability to think “just in case.” She knew there was a chance that she wouldn’t get Jamie out on the first try and that she’d need a way back in. She was giving everyone that chance.

3. Randall’s look of shock as he turns up just in time

There are a couple of moments from the beginning of Outlander Season 1, Episode 15 that stand out. The first of the two is when Black Jack Randall shows up. Okay, I did have to roll my eyes at the fact that he turns up just in time before Jamie is hanged, but something that stands out is the look of shock.

Black Jack Randall will have heard that Jamie is sentenced to death. If Jamie dies, he’ll never get his obsession and that’s something he just can’t let happen. There’s almost a sense of sadistic relief in his eyes as he realizes he’s made it to Wentworth just in time.

When I first watched, I wondered where this was going. Would Black Jack Randall really want to save Jamie from execution? Little did I know on the first watch what he had in store, but it makes this arrival moment stand out even more.
