5 best moments from Outlander Season 2, Episode 7
2. Louise and Mother Hildegarde being there for Claire
We knew Mother Hildegarde would be there for Claire at the hospital. That was why Claire wanted to head straight there, even giving Mother Hildegarde’s name. However, she did something that many others wouldn’t have. She broke the law.
Mother Hildegarde gave Claire something she needed, making sure Faith could be born in hallowed ground. Yes, there’s an irony to the name, but at the same time, there was a sort of peace within it. Mother Hildegarde wanted Claire to “have faith” that happiness would come out of this.
Then there was Louise, who I hadn’t liked all the way up to this point. In this moment, Louise put her own selfishness aside and was there for her friend. As a mother-to-be, this would have bene distressing and scary, but she managed to take the stillborn Faith and hold Claire without even thinking of herself.
1. Claire trying to save both men
Despite Comte St. Germain attempting to kill her, Claire couldn’t kill him in cold blood. She wouldn’t even allow him to be considered a practitioner of the dark arts. When King Louis charged her with figuring out which man was a witch and a threat, she searched for a way to save both the Comte and Master Raymond.
I fully respected her in that moment. She showed how to be the bigger person and proved that it wasn’t always a case of an eye for an eye. Despite her loss and her grief, she was still able to think with a level head.
However, it was all for nothing. Raymond managed to poison the drink and the Comte died anyway.
