5 best moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 14
4. The fear of Jamie picking a fight with soldiers
This was just a small moment but it makes me chuckle every time I watch it. When Claire and Jenny find the soldiers, they realize that Jamie isn’t there. Nobody even seems that worried about Jamie not being there, and it leads to the fear that Jamie has been killed.
Why would the redcoats want to kill him? He wouldn’t pick a fight with the soldiers would he? Well, this is Jamie Fraser. He’s done some stupid things in the past when his mind hasn’t completely thought things through. And I love that we get to see the match look of worry on Claire and Jenny’s faces as they realize he would be capable of doing something like that.
3. Murtagh making it so the women don’t have to make a difficult choice
Claire later says that she would have killed the redcoat courier if she had to, but I adore that we never had to see her do that. After all, as a healer, taking a life isn’t completely in her nature. Yes, she’s done it before but usually out of mercy.
However, she was willing to kill a man to keep herself, Jenny, and Jamie safe. But she doesn’t actually need to do that. Instead, we get to see Murtagh step in just before she has to. He would never make Claire or Jenny do something that they’d hold in their hearts in the future. He saves them from a haunting action and never expects a thank you.
