4. Claire’s honesty about her motherhood fears
While I’m still unsure why Claire always assumed she was the one unable to have children and not Frank, I did appreciate her and Jamie having this conversation. She was willing to open up to him, showing the comfort and the wish to have a family with him. She just wasn’t sure it was ever possible.
You could see Jamie’s disappointment. However, he was also accepting and understanding. After all, why would she have said something if she was sure she would leave him to return to Frank? And when did she had a chance until that point?
3. Ian and Jamie dealing with Horricks
While I don’t agree with killing people out of revenge, I do understand the need to kill out of self-defense. When it came to dealing with Horricks, it was all out of defense. Jamie had hoped he could deal with the deserter in a slightly more honest way but it didn’t play out.
However, there was one thing that I loved the most about this episode: Ian was the one to do it. Just as it looked like Jamie would need to pull his pistol out and shoot Horricks. Or it looked like the Irishman would do the killing. However, Ian stepped up and suddenly killed Horricks.
It was clear that Ian would do what it took to protect his family. This wasn’t just about his children but about Jamie too. It shouldn’t have been surprising that Ian would face time in prison during Outlander Season 3 to protect his brother-in-law.
