5 best moments from Outlander Season 1, Episode 12
2. Jamie finding a way to compromise with Claire’s personality
Jamie is a man of his time, but he also understands that Claire is a woman of the future. He’s always accepted that she’s different but now he knows exactly why. We get a chance to see the two worlds collide in Outlander Season 1, Episode 12.
When Claire gets in the middle of Jamie and Jenny’s business, Jamie decides to take her to one side. He would never assume she’d obey him but she does want to stop embarrassing him and herself. So, he finds a compromise that is respectful of both sides.
I love that he’s willing to find this compromise – and that Claire accepts it. She manages to fit into the world of the 18th century without giving up her own thoughts and personality. She’ll just have to do it behind closed doors.
Sometimes you just have to keep up certain appearances on the outside. I wish we could have kept more of this Claire in later seasons (and that she could have been more consistent).
1. Ian and Claire sharing the moment at night
My favorite moment has to be between Claire and Ian. I’ve always loved their relationship, as the two outsiders in the family. Ian Murray is kind-hearted and sweet and he just wants to make Claire feel welcome. However, it’s clear that they actually have things to talk about.
He’s observant and realizes that she never really flinches at the sight of his leg. Most others would and he clearly respects Claire and is grateful that she’s different. This is just the first sign of her being different.
They get to bond away from everyone else, while Ian also gets the chance to show Jenny in another light. It’s just the start of this family bond that could have been so close had they all been in another life.
