8. Lord John Grey and Claire being honest

During the middle of the season, Lord John Grey appeared at the Ridge to see Jamie. However, he ended up catching the measles. While that gave Jamie and Willie some time to bond, it also gave some time for John and Claire to get to know each other and offer some honesty.

And there was plenty of honesty in the conversation. What I loved was that both realized they were very similar, they’d been through similar situations. While John couldn’t offer women everything they wanted, Claire had never been able to offer Frank that, and there was a guilty feeling from both of them because of that.

7. Lord John Grey bonding with Brianna

After the incident with the blackmail attempt, Brianna and Lord John Grey finally got engaged. However, it was clear that Lord John never intended to marry Brianna. He was giving her time she needed to get back to Roger.

And in that moment of his honesty, he opened up about something else. He admitted that Willie wasn’t his son. It was a chance to show that a man could raise a child that wasn’t his own and not have regrets — showing that Frank wouldn’t have had any regrets about raising Brianna even though John had no idea about that relationship.

It was a perfect start for a friendship that I can’t wait to see play out more in the future of Outlander.
