Outlander Season 2, Episode 1 brought us a twist to the original storyline. We followed Claire, as she found herself in 1948. Here are my five favorite moments from the episode.

In a twist from the books, Outlander Season 2, Episode 1 put us in the show’s present day. Claire Randall Fraser found herself in 1948. While we initially wondered how and why, it didn’t take too long to figure out what the show had done.

Apr. 9 marked the anniversary of the episode airing for the very first time. After looking back at the transformation, I wanted to spend time looking at the best moments from the episode. These are my five favorite moments from “Through the Glass, Darkly.”

5. Claire’s reaction at the stones

The episode opens with Claire at the stones. She’s in the current day and it’s clear that she knows how she’s ended up here. What she doesn’t want to believe is that she’s actually here. She knows this means that she has left Jamie behind.

While we don’t know what happened to lead to this point (well, the first time ‘round), we do get a sense of Claire’s feelings. Caitriona Balfe is powerful in this opening moment, as she looks at both rings, then looks for the ring she brought through. After that, she screams.

You can sense the pain and frustration. There’s that sense of dread, as she knows that the world she once lived in is now 200 years in the past and just a pile of ash. It’s heartbreaking to watch and shows the type of actress Balfe is.
