5 podcasts to listen to if you love Outlander
2. The History Chicks
Outlander certainly has a focus on strong women. Claire is the narrator of her story about Jamie and her family and now we’ve got a growing focus on Brianna, Marsali, and other women in the tale. It’s time to look at a podcast that offers some of the same focus.
The History Chicks is just as it sounds. It’s about the influential women in history. While there is certainly focus on women like Pocahontas and Marie Laveau, there is also focus on the fairy tales and where they came from. This will offer a look at the likes of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, making this history podcast something completely different from the rest.
This is going to be a podcast that delves into some women you may not have even heard of. Lives don’t always end positively but their impact on the world in the past and now shouldn’t be overlooked.
1. Lore
One of my favorite history podcasts has to be Lore. It’s even been turned into a TV series on Amazon Prime Video. Lore is different from everything else on the list. Aaron Mahnke tells the stories of some of the weirdest and scariest tales. If you get queasy easily, you may want to avoid this podcast.
It tells some of the darkest stories, such as people being buried alive accidentally and gravediggers who helped to push medical knowledge forward. You’ll learn about the stories of witches and superstition, of medical illnesses that had no diagnosis in the past. Of the curses people believed and the weird mysteries that remain unsolved to this day.
A large amount of research goes into each of the episodes. Each episode is a story within itself and you’ll be pulled into the world after just the first episode.
