2. Finding out Roger wasn’t returning

This was nearly the cliffhanger moment. The EPs almost left us wondering whether Roger would return or not. And this would have been the moment we’d have ended on. Brianna looking at Claire and Jamie being the ones to return without her husband.

Thankfully, the EPs eventually decided to change things. We got to see the reunion between the couple, but that doesn’t take away from this moment. As Brianna stood on those steps initially happy that everyone was back only to see that Roger wasn’t there, you could see her heart broke.

Lord John Grey had given her a sense of renewed hope that Roger would return. She was holding onto that for a few episodes (months in the case of Outlander world) and now that hope was gone. You could see all the emotions running through her as she realized exactly what had happened.

And then we got the moment as Claire broke the news to Brianna. She learned what had happened and realized that he might not be coming back for her, unable to accept the child. This was something she feared, but she had hoped with everything that he would be able to accept a child that was possibly his.
