2. Protecting her daughter

In the forest, Claire had to watch as Roger beat up Jamie. Then she had to stop both men fighting. But in the end, she protected her daughter.

Knowing that Roger would need time to think, she stopped Jamie from threatening him. After all, the more Jamie threatened Roger, the more the chance he could walk away. Who would want to stick around for a girl when her father was constantly threatening you?

Yet, she remained a mother. When it came to leaving Roger, she made one thing clear. She would always choose Brianna’s side and now it was up to Roger to make his choice. Would he stand by her and claim the child or would he go back through the stones?

She wanted to make sure her daughter’s heart was protected. While she couldn’t force Roger to stay, she could make it clear that he needed to be sure — whatever choice he made had to be the final one. More importantly, she never put a time limit on it, knowing that a decision of this magnitude would take time.
