3 best Roger moments in Outlander Season 4, Episode 13
1. Wanting to see his son
At the very end of Outlander Season 4, Episode 13, Brianna saw a lone rider coming towards River Run. One thing I’m glad about is that Brianna saw him first and was able to get to him. After all, greetings haven’t been the friendliest for the scholar.
However, that’s not my favorite moment. Sure, I love the fact that Roger and Brianna reunite and that moment as they run into each others’ arms is beautiful, but it’s all about Roger’s final words of the scene to her.
He wants to go inside and not to rest. While he’s happy she’s healthy, he wants to see “my son.” This line makes it extremely clear that he is willing to claim paternity. He doesn’t care what anyone else says or thinks, this is his son.
While I was disappointed that we didn’t get the exact scene from the book with Roger performing the blood oath (I was more disappointed about that than Jamie and Claire not being there for the baby’s birth), I still loved that we got Roger making it clear that he was claiming paternity. The time away from everyone worked, so he could go through his options and consider just how much he loved Brianna and the baby he’d never met.
