Murtagh and Fergus find Bonnet

Poor, Fergus. Not enough time has been spent on him and we find out in Outlander Season 4, Episode 11 that he’s struggling to find work. Nobody wants to take on a man with just one hand. Marsali, who is annoyed at harboring a wanted man (Murtagh), decides to ask Murtagh to request that Fergus join him as a Regulator.

Murtagh decides to honor that wish, but Fergus turns him down. It’s just what Marsali wanted to hear, because she needs a whole man or none at all, and now she feels comfortable telling the two that the Gloriana has docked.

The two men head off for Bonnet, who certainly isn’t expecting them and it doesn’t take long for him to e knocked out. However, just as Murtagh is tying Bonnet up, two of the sheriff’s men find him. Murtagh punches Fergus to get him away Scott free, but Murtagh is recognized as a wanted man. He and Bonnet are taken in and that’s where we’re left for next week.

Brianna chooses a husband

The third story of the night is about finding a husband for Brianna. She doesn’t want to marry, but Jocasta doesn’t believe that Roger will be brought back to her. Jocasta is thinking about the baby, but what does Brianna do?

I’ll admit that I found this whole storyline hilarious. I loved the way Brianna was direct throughout the dinner with four eligible men (one of those being Lord John Grey, who had arrived at the request of Jamie). It was clear two were certainly interested in her, but she had no interest in them.

With John’s connection to Jamie, naturally, Brianna connects to him. He figures out that she’s pregnant and finds out the full story about Roger and the handfasting. Calling the night to an end, Brianna goes to bed but can’t sleep. In the middle of the night, she finds John in a liaison with the fourth suitor at the dinner.

She doesn’t let the two know she’s there, but it is ammo for the next day. Brianna wants John to marry her and if he doesn’t, she’ll tell people what she saw. Then she backtracks, knowing what it could mean for him. So, she threatens to tell Jamie — not like he doesn’t know.

Eventually, Brianna tells Lord John the whole truth. She knows that she has to marry for the sake of her baby, especially when she doesn’t know if Roger will even accept the child. It’s just the push of sympathy Lord John needs. Just as it looks like Mr. Forbes (one of the men from the dinner) will ask her to marry him, Lord John Grey announces that he asked on the walk and Brianna accepted.

Of course, Forbes isn’t happy about it and sulks out of Jocasta’s house. Jocasta is just happy that Brianna has a husband.

As for John, he shares more about William. He doesn’t tell Brianna that Willie is her brother, but does admit that he is not Willie’s biological father. Brianna knows that she has a good man, but John makes it clear that Brianna shouldn’t give up hope about Roger just yet — about him returning or about him accepting Brianna’s child.

We end on a positive note for Brianna, as she pulls out a letter Jamie sent to her via Lord John Grey. It’s time for her to find out what it said.
